Getting help

Goodies, tips, and tricks

Put Babel boxes on your user page so others know what languages you can speak and indicate your graphic abilities.
You can find the files you have uploaded in your Uploads.
Please sign your name on Talk pages by typing ~~~~.
To link to an image page without embedding the image, type: [[:File:Foo.jpg]], which produces: File:Foo.jpg.
You may enable gadgets (custom features) for your account.
There are several tools to upload files.
Have you edited Wikipedia before? This guide might be useful.

Do you want to have a file renamed or moved? Use the move link and wait for an authorized user to rename it.

Please review our project scope, but in short, Commons is targeted at educational media files including photographs, diagrams, animations, music, spoken text and video clips. Wikimedia Commons does not contain text articles like encyclopedia articles, textbooks, news, word definitions and such. Each of these other kinds of content have their own projects: Wikipedia, Wikibooks, Wikisource, Wikinews, Wiktionary and Wikiquote. If the content seems to fit the scope of one of those other projects, please consider contributing it there. Otherwise, consider an alternative outlet. If you think that the deletion was in error because the contribution really was in scope, you can appeal it at Commons:Undeletion requests, giving a reason why it fits our scope to help others evaluate the matter. Critically evaluate Flickr licenses

You may have preserved the information shown on Flickr correctly when transferring the image here, but the Flickr uploader is not the copyright holder of this image. Either the image was created by someone else, or it is a derivative of someone else's work. As stated in Commons:Licensing, only the copyright holder may issue a license, so the one shown on Flickr is invalid. Always remember to critically evaluate Flickr licenses. Photostreams with professional-looking photographs, album covers, posters, and images in a wide range of styles or quality taken by many different cameras often indicate that the Flickr uploader either does not understand or does not care about copyright matters. See Commons:Questionable Flickr images for a list of known bad Flickr users.

Russian Museum

Hi, the photos of the paintings in the Russian Museum collection are spoiled by watermarks. I have cleaned up several dozen photos, but this is a very complex and time-consuming job in Photoshop, if you do it well, with brushes and other tools 4 or 5 pixels. You can do it more roughly, then the work itself will be faster, but less quality. I have a question, how do you remove watermarks, perhaps you have your own method. Perhaps you get a photo without watermarks? Now they are changing some photos so that there are fewer watermarks (4 or 5 inscriptions), but the photos are half the size of the original version. Indeed, you uploaded a photo with watermarks. Now there are much fewer watermarks. When I worked with this photo, there were a lot of watermarks and it was very difficult to clean the photo, because along with the inscription “Russian Museum” the elements of the painting (the crown or pearls) were erased, I had to paint the erased elements with a brush.
