Please note the policy Commons:Criteria_for_speedy_deletion#F3 " does not apply to photographs taken in a public place, though the photograph itself remains subject to the other speedy criteria if its authorship is in question. Given the complexity of copyright rules like freedom of panorama and de minimis, such issues must be resolved in a formal deletion request."
The image description makes it clear it is a photograph of a picture on display in public
If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.
Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

Hi, I noticed you imported some good icons from a github repo, but I noticed that the repo is using GPL licence not CC BY-SA licence. So, please consider using template {{GPL}} instead of {{cc-by-sa-4.0}}, if anything wrong in my comment, please let me know. Thanks for your contributions! The repository contain both Android icon pack app and the icons themselves, I believe "Arcticons uses the GPL-3.0 license." referring to the app 999real (talk) 13:52, 27 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for uploading File:Arcticons-black emoji baby symbol.svg. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the {{No permission since}} tag with {{subst:PP}} on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.
Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own).
The file probably has been deleted. If you sent a permission, try to send it again after 14 days. Do not re-upload. When the VRT-member processes your mail, the file can be undeleted. Additionally you can request undeletion here, providing a link to the File-page on Commons where it was uploaded ([[:File:Arcticons-black emoji baby symbol.svg]]) and the above demanded information in your request.

Hello. I just wanted to let you know that I have grantedautopatrol rights to your account; the reason for this is that I believe you are sufficiently trustworthy and experienced to have your contributions automatically marked as "reviewed". This has no effect on your editing, it is simply intended to make it easier for users that are monitoring Recent changes or Recent uploads to find unproductive edits amidst the productive ones like yours. In addition, the Flickr upload feature and an increased number of batch-uploads in UploadWizard, uploading of freely licensed MP3 files, overwriting files uploaded by others and an increased limit for page renames per minute are now available to you. Thank you. Abzeronow (talk) 18:58, 29 December 2024 (UTC)Reply

File:Lamine Yamal before Getafe vs Barcelona Matchday 20 LaLiga 2025.jpg has been marked as a possible copyright violation. Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content—that is, images and other media files that can be used by anyone, for any purpose. Traditional copyright law does not grant these freedoms, and unless noted otherwise, everything you find on the web is copyrighted and not permitted here. For details on what is acceptable, please read Commons:Licensing. You may also find Commons:Copyright rules useful, or you can ask questions about Commons policies at the Commons:Help desk. If you are the copyright holder and the creator of the file, please read Commons:But it's my own work! for tips on how to provide evidence of that.
The file you added has been deleted. If you have written permission from the copyright holder, please have them send us a free license release via COM:VRT. If you believe that the deletion was not in accordance with policy, you may request undeletion. (It is not necessary to request undeletion if using VRT; the file will be automatically restored at the conclusion of the process.)
This file is a copyright violation for the following reason: The (now-removed) YouTube livestream that this screenshot was taken from was a mirror of the La Liga feed.
Warning: Wikimedia Commons takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

Wikimedia Commons does not accept derivative works of non-free works such as File:Arcticons-black sonic runners.svg. It only accepts free content, which is images and other media files that can be used by anyone, for any purpose. Reproductions of copyrighted works are also subject to the same copyright, and therefore this file must unfortunately be considered non-free. For more information, please read Commons:Derivative works and Commons:Freedom of panorama. You can ask questions about Commons policies in Commons:Help desk.
The file you added has been deleted. If you believe that this file was not a derivative work of a non-free work, you may request undeletion.

Please refrain from adding YouTube links as sources on files that you did not upload, especially when the file in question depicts something that appears in many different historical sources not on YouTube.
I have reverted your recent edit to File:Original PacMan.svg in which you added a YouTube link to the Source field in the description. The character of Pac-Man did not originate from a YouTube video, and I most certainly did not use any YouTube video as a reference when creating this particular .svg file. Your edit was wholly unhelpful and unwelcome. Obscure2020 (talk) 02:38, 26 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
This is useful to show that the copyright owner released Pac-Man under a free license in case the threshold of originality changes. Now I put the link in the license template instead of the source field REAL💬⬆14:19, 26 April 2025 (UTC)Reply

Do NOT open (and reopen) categories of Iranian cities by date (day). It's not in usage anywhere amomng hundreds of thousands of photographs. --Orijentolog (talk) 12:47, 1 May 2025 (UTC)Reply
I'm aware of it, for some cities like Paris or New York it's useful because there are thousands of photos from those cities every month. For the case of Tehran and other Iranian cities, it is not. I'm well aware of it because I was categorizing virtually everything related to Tehran per month. --Orijentolog (talk) 12:52, 1 May 2025 (UTC)Reply
There are surely 1000+ of pictures of Tehran every month if we upload all the free files from Iranian news agencies. That said, often I do not know when the photos were really taken, so I can't actually put the day taken on REAL💬⬆13:01, 1 May 2025 (UTC)Reply
It may be few hundreds per month, but still not practical because more than a half of these photos will end up in the events (like matches, funerals, etc). See for example July 2020 in Tehran, without three matches, there are only 25 photos. And if you jump to July 2020 in Paris, they separated it by days and some of such subcategories have over 200 (daily) photos. Not counting events. There are other related issues also, like consistency. There's no much sense in opening two Tehran's days, while there are no categories for other 5,000 days. Another issue is geographical miscategorization, some of photos dated under Tehran's months are actually from Tehran County and Tehran Province. I'm trying to solve that issue for many months, and I'm still not finished (requires satellite identification). If someone tries to "improve" consistency with opening new daily categories, based on mistakes by months, chaos will only increase. --Orijentolog (talk) 14:21, 1 May 2025 (UTC)Reply

A file that you have uploaded to Wikimedia Commons, File:Iran Football Premier League - Esteghlal & Aluminum Arak 2 May 2025 (26 Mehr).jpg, is a derivative work, containing an "image within an image". Examples of such works would include a photograph of a sculpture, a scan of a magazine cover, or a map that has been altered from the original. In each of these cases, the rights of the creator of the original must be considered, as well as those of the creator of the derivative work.
While the description page states who made this derivative work, it currently doesn't specify who created the original work, so the overall copyright status is unclear. If you did not create the original work depicted in this image, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright.
Please edit the file description and add the missing information, or the file may be deleted. If you created the original content yourself, enter this information as the source. If someone else created the content, the source should be the address to the web page where you found it, the name and ISBN of the book you scanned it from, or similar. You should also name the author, provide verifiable information to show that the content is in the public domain or has been published under a free license by its author, and add an appropriate template identifying the public domain or licensing status, if you have not already done so. Please add the required information for this and other files you have uploaded before adding more files. If you need assistance, please ask at the help desk. Thank you!
But, I still want to thank you for trying to bring up that it was not copyright. I realize that what I have caused was a common rookie mistake for "Self-Promotion", and I won't be doing it again. Like I've told Bedivere, it was my mistake, and I've only skimmed through the rules like anyone else would Online. I am only 17, turning 18 soon, what I've done wasn't right, but I come to realize how I should treat commons.
I still wanted to send thanks for helping, I was banned at the time and couldn't reply to you before, but I do appreciate it.
and I've noticed that I wasn't given a proper warning before the ban, and that you would've been banned if you opened another "UDR". and I also want to apologize to you for getting you into an "Argument" with Jameslwoodward.
But thankfully, I was unbanned, and like I've mentioned, it won't happen again.

Hello. Not all freely-licensed content from NickRewind is a depiction of a separately copyrighted work or is subject to trademark protection. For example, those templates would be inapplicable for stills of Tom Kenny, Joey Graceffa or any other people from File:Voice Acting Tips with Tom Kenny.webm. On a related note, I have also created a new tag, {{Free depiction (Nickelodeon)}}, to replace the standard "free depiction" tag for Nickelodeon works. JohnCWiesenthal (talk) 19:14, 12 May 2025 (UTC)Reply
I am aware that you didn't add those templates. (I notified the user who did, too.) That VisualFileChange tool seems quite useful (and time-saving). JohnCWiesenthal (talk) 01:09, 13 May 2025 (UTC)Reply

I have granted rollback rights to your account; the reason for this is that after a review of some of your contributions, I believe I can trust you to use rollback correctly by using it for its intended usage of reverting vandalism, and that you will not abuse it to revert-war. For information on rollback, see Commons:Rollback. If you do not want rollback, just let me know, and I'll remove it. Good luck and thanks. KadıMessage23:45, 27 May 2025 (UTC)Reply

Hi! I’m confused. Why are you nominating for deletion photos that I have uploaded and are clearly in the public domain? You even say so in your comments. JohnMizuki (talk) 16:39, 1 June 2025 (UTC)Reply
Thank you!

When making edits like this one, please be sure to indicate the region for which the copyright status applies. Copyright "not renewed" only applies to countries like the United States, where copyright must be registered / renewed. For countries that determine copyright based on the date the author died, renewal does not affect the status. And, in fact, works that are now public domain in the United States, may still be under copyright in other countries. --EncycloPetey (talk) 06:00, 5 July 2025 (UTC)Reply
My point is that the copyright status is not public domain in every country. In some countries, this work is still under copyright. The copyright status is not the same worldwise, but varies by region. In the EU, this book is still under copyright protection. --EncycloPetey (talk) 17:17, 3 September 2025 (UTC)Reply

Hi. It looks like you did a mass edit adding "no copyright due to missing copyright notice" to a bunch of files I uploaded even though they have copyright notices on them. File:US 1944 Kansas Patriotic Swarm Tokyo Plane Plants Sedan to Kokomo Cover front.jpeg being one of what looks like hundreds of files that have the issue. It seems like you even overwrote your last edit that had the correct copyright status in that case to. I assume the other files where you edited have the same issue. Can you please your edits and maybe not do mass edits adding SDC data to uploads in the future if you can't do it properly? It's super annoying having the same group of thousands of files on my watch list being superficially edited multiple times day after day. I keep missing legitimate edits that I actually want to review because of the edits adding copyright information. Thanks. --Adamant1 (talk) 07:10, 8 July 2025 (UTC)Reply
Oh. I must have misread the changeset comment. I wasn't aware that quickstatements could be filtered out of the watchlist either. Thanks for the info. --Adamant1 (talk) 08:28, 9 July 2025 (UTC)Reply
@999real: If I change the license on one of the files does the SDC data get automatically updated by whatever process your using or do I have to change it myself? --Adamant1 (talk) 02:43, 11 July 2025 (UTC)Reply
No it won't update automatically but I can find all files without the template quickly for example searching

Hey, it's Zig. Just wanted to say i am a bit stressed due to my anxiety and ADHD and sorry for me and Mayhem arguring over disagreements on the copyright status of 1980s commercials and works in general. ZigZagTheTigerSkunk (talk) 01:43, 12 July 2025 (UTC)Reply
Hey you've done a lot of good work. I think you should take a break from researching this (at least the post November 1981 commercials) for a while. I know the law can be annoying and not make sense but we need to be careful and not get anyone in trouble, we can't guess or predict that a tape didn't have a copyright notice REAL💬⬆03:54, 12 July 2025 (UTC)Reply
Mayhemsays has basically stalked me from site to site and i tried reporting him. Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents - Wikipedia But this user claimed the commerical awas copyrighted (without proof) And i tried asking him about this:
User talk:Bgsu98 - Wikipedia, i know you said to take a break from the research, and i'm trying to but MayhemSays is triggering my PTSD.

Given the volume of the quickstatements you are using, it would be best if you did this from a bot account rather than your regular user account. While I don't object to the edits, the extremely high volume means it should have the community oversight of BRFA. Pi.1415926535 (talk) 23:22, 18 July 2025 (UTC)Reply

File:Katara character.png has been marked for speedy deletion. (Reason: date=22 August 2025 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Katara.png is already an image under fair use of Katara. Additionally, the extracted an image from the above video cited does not have adequate support under Commons:Deletion requests/Files in :Category:NickRewind videos and related discussions about NickRewind videos. Such licensing is also is not a sustainable practice for Commons, nor is it clear that this image fits the licensed version. help=off)

I am not sure if you saw the conversation on the Beatles talk page [4]but we are trying to get an image of them for the main page that is good, and you uploaded four good ones. I am not sure if you want to get involved in the talk page (which I personally think you should but it’s up to you), but I am making a request that you find more Beatles images. Of course, it’s only a request so it is not mandatory.
Thank you. This one is really amazing, is there any colored ones since that would be much more preferable? If not, I’ll just use this. By the way this is amazing and I want to know how you get these images in public domain because I want to upload more of these photos. People’s wikipedia pages including Bob Dylan do not have amazing images from back in the 60s and I want to learn how to find them on my own. I already upload pre-1963 ap wire photo images but I want to know how you get those images. Thank you Wcamp9 (talk) 23:59, 27 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
Oh yea, I got a good one of Ali for you that can be uploaded. I just started searching on Worthpoint like what you do:

Dear 999real,
Like I said already, I couldn’t describe how glad I am seeing you upload all these free images as now I am even hooked on the idea and trying to do it. One such image I have been looking for for a long time to see if it is public domain was this image of Malcolm X. However, the version it currently is is very blurry and I think this version from Alamy is much better. I can’t really upload it to the page so I am giving a request you can do. While your at it, make that the lead image for the page, and maybe try to find a color photo for MLK’s main page if you can. Thank you for your amazing work!
P.S. Try to find a good image (maybe color but doesn’t matter) of Muhammad Ali posing with his fists or boxing gloves for the new lede. I am not the biggest fan of the current one and others. Try to find one that you would get looking him up on Google please. Wcamp9 (talk) 02:28, 29 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
Hi, you are right about the quality, I'm not sure what I was thinking or where I even got that version from, anyway I overwrote it now with downloaded from Alamy. I don't like the current lead image but I'm not sure this is the best one to replace it, I like this one more
About finding a color photo of MLK, I don't think AP and UPI ever published color photos at that time unless they were sent to magazines, for example if you search this photo on Tineye you can see results from 2008 which I think is before AP ever started selling images online, so it must have been published at some point, but there's no copy of it as a wire photo or in a newspaper, they sent a very similar black and white one to newspapers. So I think the best chance is looking for magazines before 1964 that did not have copyright renewed, I think Jet magazine was not renewed [5], I only glanced but saw only black and white photos so far
For Muhammad Ali these are my favorite (1, 2) but I don't think people will like them as a lead image. Anyway there were some great photos taken by Stanley Weston or his photographers of Ali in 1962 that were published in his magazines, I think none before 1964 had copyright renewed and there were many in the 70s and 80s published with a defective copyright notice, most are in this Category:G.C. London Publishing
This is a good one in color, but you can tell the shadow looks strange, it's because he was actually leaning to throw a punch, but they decided to rotate it and use it on a magazine cover in 1962
Sorry for relying on you again, but you are doing a real good with your knowledge to Wikimedia - can you please find a publicity photo of Miles Davis? The infobox images are looking bleak Wcamp9 (talk) 05:02, 30 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
Wow I just saw the images you uploaded of Michael Jordan which are amazing because I’m an NBA fan and I’ve been looking for one of Jordan for a few months and haven’t got close I wanna find more especially in color so can you tell me how to find more cuz ur actually a wikimedia hero dude Wcamp9 (talk) 02:21, 27 September 2025 (UTC)Reply
I search and filter in Getty Images for the Bettman Archive that's what has the photos from United Press International and sometimes they have "Original Caption" then I search that in Newspapers.com to try to find publication at the time, ideally for 1978-89 we should find a copy of the wire photo too to make sure it had no copyright notice, although I don't think we ever seen one for a UPI photo even up to 1989.

This file is a copyright violation for the following reason: It's one thing to send a cover from the 50s, it's another to send a reprint cover, alternate material is not PD.

Please do not upload AP images without any proof they were published at the time, you can sign up for free access to Newspapers.com at en:Wikipedia:Newspapers.com to search there and for images for 1978-89 especially we should find a copy of the original wire photo to make sure it had no copyright notice. Here is an example. Also I have no idea about details of this event. REAL💬⬆21:20, 10 October 2025 (UTC)Reply
